30/05 - Traffic Decongestion

This morning was beautiful. I visited the Agara lake with the intention of meditating and doing some exercises. I had been watching a corner in my previous visits and was glad to find that spot empty. As I sat down and looked out at this part of the lake, I was astonished by its beauty. Then my sight wandered, from the water, to the leaves on the nearest tree, the shadow falling upon a leaf and the intriguing shape the shadow had left, to the soil underneath my feet and on and on. What was also wonderful was I was able to observe all these many things, without too many thoughts, judgements arising. A frequent problem with people like me is the desire to come up with a quip or quote. Some beautiful words to describe the moment. And when the mind return blank on this API request, the very beauty one sought to describe is lost. Because the beauty is not out there, but within us. And we sully it with incessant compulsive thinking.

I gazed at the scenery for long and eventually settled into my routine. I was able to consistently watch my breath, bring my attention back to breath every time it meandered. The remarkable event today was I was able to do Anulom Vilom properly, with two functioning nostrils! Lately, either one and or even both would be stuck in traffic. But today the traffic eased(unusual for a Thursday in Bangalore) and I was able to smoothly breathe in and breathe out.

May the traffic in Bangalore ease.
